There's No Place Like Home

We arrived back in Missouri safely a week ago...hit the ground running.  I was up the next morning at 4, began work at 5, worked til 4 pm, and had a good ten hour sleep that night.  In some ways I never exactly lagged on the return; yet in some ways I'm just beginning to get back up to speed.  And it is good to be back home.  In the entire trip there were few days off until the Barcelona vacation--and even a vacation can be a lot of work.  So, I'm really enjoying a bit of down time that my house and yard can provide.

Reflections on this trip:  first, I've really learned to try to keep an open heart, to say 'yes' to whatever comes along.  Several of the planned events didn't pan out the way I'd hoped:  for example, one Scotland class had two members and the client workshop also didn't pay for the room I rented.  Yet, again I was privileged to meet and work with wonderful people.  And who knows how we'll interact on the next trip?  By and large classes were successful.  I've created a niche in the UK as far as teaching of bodywork.  I'm rather the 'common sense', folksy person who's less interested in knowing anatomy perfectly, and more in teaching students how to follow their hands and hearts.  And I'm getting a dedicated group of students who appreciate my style.  Wonderful!

I was invited by students to teach in both Australia and South Africa in the future...we'll see!  I'm not sure if we could make this profitable; but it's always amazing to see new places, and I continually realize how lucky I am to have found ways to make these events happen.

London was good--again.  Scotland was wonderful, such friendly people and gorgeous countryside.  Yorkshire in my seacoast town of Filey was a fantastic, laid back place where I look forward to a return visit.  Berlin was a bit disturbing to me--while I was looking at my roots, I didn't actually feel I belonged.  Barcelona was an ultimate vacation destination, which wore us out.  Colleagues, students, friends--we are so blessed to be able to share with so many wonderful people.

Return trip:  1 Nov until 8 December.  My concert at St Paul's will be on Thursday, 3 December this fall.  I have teaching days lined up, and hope to enjoy one out-of-the country trip too.  It's a good life.
